Five for Friday

Oh my goodness y’all. When was the last time we had a Five for Friday? It’s been a few weeks now!

I don’t know about you, but my week was a little bit wretched so I’m SUPER happy that it’s Friday! I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend with my husband and some amazing friends. Maybe we will finally clear some of the leftover wedding stuff from our dining room…but don’t count on it.

Five Foods!

My new favorite breakfast obsession – Protein Greek yogurt! To make, simply combine one container of fat free Greek yogurt (plain, vanilla or honey is best) with about a half scoop of protein powder (I use Sun Warrior vanilla because it is raw, vegan, and tastes great!) and a dash of cinnamon. Top with a tablespoon of raw cacao nibs and some fresh raspberries and you’re in business! Sometimes if I’m feeling really crazy I like to stir in a little powdered peanut butter but that’s our little secret, right?

Ceasar Wrap with Tofu Croutons and Broccoli – I love Big Girls Small Kitchen! I have a strict no-frying rule in my house, so I would probably just bake the tofu croutons. But other than that minor deet, these wraps sound delicious!

Mashed Plantain with Red Beans – Takes me right back to the Dominican! Let’s put this on our menu for next week, mmkay?

Better than Trader Joe’s Kale and Edamame Bistro Salad – I have heard a LOT of great things about that Trader Joe’s salad. Alas, the nearest TJ’s is 45 minutes away, so I am happy to see that I can try this famous salad without the road trip.

Chocobanana Chia Pudding – Anybody have a long run planned for the weekend? Even if you’re only running to say, the mall, chia seeds will give you tons of energy! Here’s a way to prepare them that’s extra delicious!

Five Reads!

Teenage Boy Finds Finger in Arby’s Sandwich…yet another reason I don’t eat meat. Ick ick ick. Probably a good reason to avoid fast food too.

Ketchup’s Unsavory Secret History…I loved this article on Yahoo. I love ketchup, but I had no idea how it got started! I’m not giving it away though. You’ll have to read if you wanna find out!

50 Awesome Pre and Post-workout Snacks…via Greatist. My workouts have been SUPER intense lately, and I’m always left wondering what I should fuel up on when I finish. It’s gotta be something really easy though because my body is jello by the time I’m ready to nosh!

Why it’s OK to be Quiet…I think I might be a little bit of an introvert, and I love this article that argues that introverts have unique gifts to share with the largely extroverted world around them. Do you identify as an introvert or an extrovert? Or maybe like me, you’re not totally sure?

Shaun T’s Last Minute Diet and Exercise Tips over at Fitsugar. I love Shaun T. That is all.

Thought for the day:

Faith is not knowing what the future holds, but knowing WHO holds the future.
